Wednesday evening, September 7, 2005, less than 24 hours after the California state assembly voted 41-35 to approved marriage equality legislation AB 849, the governor has issued a press statement announcing that he will veto the legislation when it reaches his desk.

California Legislature Approves Gay Marriage Bill

Yesterday evening, September 6, 2005, the California State Assembly voted 41-35 in support of marriage equality bill AB 849 which would allow for same sex couples in California to legally marry.  This makes California the first state to pass marriage equality legislation through our entire legislative body.  The bill now heads to the desk of
