Boy Scouts Ruling

Boy Scouts vote to allow openly gay youths, maintain ban on gay adult leaders.  In what way isn’t this the cart before the horse?  Does this make sense to any one person outside of the scouts?  I fear their motives are more sinister.

“It is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America to serve others by helping to instill values in young people and, in other ways, to prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetime in achieving their full potential. The values we strive to instill are based on those found in the Scout Oath and Law.”

Are the scouts contemplating practicing without a license in the field of reparative therapy, a field that has never worked?  Could their agenda hold only focus on one thing, allow these boys to attend, in hopes of converting or brainwashing them before they become  adults and no one will have to leave? Their words, “instill values in young people and, in other ways. ‘  Makes me more then a little concerned.

Has anyone considered the psychological ramifications for these young men?  How heartless is this group, who are supposed to be shaping tomorrow’s future?  Does our future still has it being all right to look into the eyes of a child and tell them that they are no good, worthless and not welcomed?

I see this new tragedy unfolding and the situation can go either one of two ways.  The first one goes as such.  The children are brought in, reminded of their ungodliness and remind them they were not wanted within this elite establishment, but were forced to comply to public pressure.  These unwanted boys brought in and shown all the wonderful and fun activities the other boys are doing, but told they can only watch away from the other boys.  Thus the process of breaking the kid down and rev up the brain washing.

But there is one aspect to this mess that scares me and the thought leaves me in tears.  It is the psychological effects on these young boys, being surrounded by bullies and hater and not a chance for it to get better.  When the child voices his fears and concerns, the parents will just tell the kid to suck it up, cause he belongs to the best organizations in the world for building character and he shouldn’t worry about them, they know what they are doing.  It is hard enough being gay and afraid to tell your parents for fear of rejections.  Just imagine that feeling on a grander scale when they subconsciously agree with the scouts, that feelings of shame, belittlement, self hate are okay.  The pain of broken bones, torn skin and shattered spirits are okay, because the kids who are gay, bisexual, lesbian, and transgender have it coming to them and it is their fault for not making the right ethical choices in their lives.  It is okay if you have to sacrifice your life to be an example to others who refuse to instill our values into their sinful lives.  Your death will say, “This is what happens when you refuse to reach their full potential for you.”  Without a safe haven within the scouts for these young boys to turn to, I am so afraid that they will only see one option for themselves.  I hope I am wrong and that a new BSA motto hasn’t been created, “If you can’t throw the gay away, we’ll convert your children so you don’t have to, or the kids will die trying.  BSA: you are either with us or against us, play or pay.”

I don’t want to see the Boy Scouts doing a complete change to it rules from public outcry and pressures due to a huge spike in teen suicides within the BSA.  Most importantly I don’t want to see any precious lights snuffed out before their time due to hatred, and bigotry.  The change of rules, has those same old overtones playing just under the surface.
