Bulldog pride fund receives $70,000 bequest

The Bulldog Pride Fund (BPF), an endowed scholarship fund established under the auspices of the Fresno State Alumni Association (FSAA), has received a $70,000 bequest from the Estate of Larry Newsome.
“We are most grateful to Mr. Newsome for the tremendous impact that his legacy gift will make to support students at Fresno State,” said Peter Robertson, founder of the BPF and director of development for the FSAA.
This is the second bequest provided to the BPF; the first was a $100,000 bequest from the Estate of William Beck bestowed in 2008. Currently, the BPF provides six annual scholarships of $2,000 each, or a total of $12,000 per academic year: ASI President’s Award, Drum Major Award, GSA Network Award, Harvey Milk Humanics Award, TimeOut Spirit Award, and the USP President’s Award.
Since 2006, the BPF has provided 49 scholarships valued at $87,000. As of Jan. 5, 2017; total donations to the BPF are $455,812.
