FILM SCREENING: “PARIS IS BURNING.”
Thurs. July 11, 2024. 7:00 pm. John Wright Theatre (Speech Arts Building) at Fresno State.
Summer Arts returns to Fresno State and an event you will want to attend is a special screening of “Paris Is Burning” (1990). This multiple awards-winning documentary chronicles the ball culture of NYC with the American, Latinx, Gay, and Transgender communities. The event will begin with the short film: “Merced Pride” (2023) that chronicles how one woman leads an organization and creates positive cultural impacts for the LGBTQ+ community in a conservative area. Introduction by Adam Lincoln Lane, filmmaker.
• Post-screening discussion: Cuauhtémoc Peranda, Dr. Katherine Fobear, and Prof. Dion Foster.
• Includes reception and entertainment: Dr. Ángel González, Lucy Yale, and Miguel Cisneros.
