California Legislature Approves Gay Marriage Bill

Yesterday evening, September 6, 2005, the California State Assembly voted 41-35 in support of marriage equality bill AB 849 which would allow for same sex couples in California to legally marry.  This makes California the first state to pass marriage equality legislation through our entire legislative body.  The bill now heads to the desk of

Battle lines Drawn

The war over domestic partnerships and same-sex marriage in California has entered probably its most bitter stage. Three initiatives to constitutionally ban domestic partnerships and enshrine marriage between heterosexuals were approved for signature gathering in July. All three require at least 600,000 valid signatures to be placed on the ballot next year.
