Gay L.A. On Times Best List

Gay L.A.The newest book by California State University, Fresno English professor,  Dr. Lillian Faderman, “Gay L.A. A History Of Sexual Outlaws, Power Politics and Lipstick Lesbians”, is on The Los Angeles Times list of favorite nonfiction works of 2006 . The book, co-authored by freelance writer Stuart Timmons, was published October 2nd by Basic Books .

In it’s Book Review section on Sunday, December 10th, “The Times” lauded “Gay L.A.” as a “meticulously researched” history of the West’s most populous city, starting from the time of Native Peoples and moving into the 21st Century.

 

The Times each year recommends 25 nonfiction books and 25 works of fiction and poetry to readers interested in giving or getting books over the holidays.

 Lillian Faderman, who joined the Fresno State faculty in 1967, has written several other critically acclaimed books, including “Naked In The Promised Land, A Memoir”, which was nominated for a National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize.
